There's a world of difference between calling oneself an intellectual on a blog and doing it in person. I should have taken it out on your other commentators, the first one for being a goon and the others for being schmucks.

I am in a bad mood today.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648409483330236099.post-45099479337764068642011-09-29T10:09:30.246-07:002011-09-29T10:09:30.246-07:00Thank you, Anonymous. First of all, it is...I am troubled by what I read. First of all, it is my humble opinion that no one who calls himself an intellectual is an intellectual. Same thing pretty much goes for the term "scholar." You should probably drop laying claim to those two attributes. It looks bad. Secondly, I am amazed that you would take the advice of random people on the interwebs. Syllabus is a 2nd declension masculine noun. What's more, it's from a Greek second declension masculine noun. Nowhere, at least in classical literature, is it used as a fourth. Look it up in the OLD or L&S, and check the PHI database.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648409483330236099.post-71192492133388276982011-08-13T01:39:40.360-07:002011-08-13T01:39:40.360-07:00Some 4th-declension stuff is good like that though...Some 4th-declension stuff is good like that though; it only just occurred to me that the plural of `consensus' is indistinguishable in text from the singular, which is as it should be.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648409483330236099.post-79316480802628043982011-08-10T09:45:17.687-07:002011-08-10T09:45:17.687-07:00wait -- syllabus is 4th declension? argh.wait -- syllabus is 4th declension? argh.Another Damned Medievalisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05231085915472400163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648409483330236099.post-64364453090118660482011-08-09T20:12:57.082-07:002011-08-09T20:12:57.082-07:00Or Latin, even.Or Latin, even.Curt Emanuelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09531034596024372214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648409483330236099.post-57363845790677808402011-08-09T14:30:24.141-07:002011-08-09T14:30:24.141-07:00I'm with non-pedantic.
