This, too, shall pass
Great.
Just when I finally realize I am not too dumb to write my book, the book is done, and off, and I realize that I am too dumb to write any other book. Or article. Or conference paper, for that matter.
At least you have an idea for a second book! That's a huge start! I can't fathom any sustained project after this one. Of course, I'm still working on this one...
All the really cool writers have a series of six sequels already outlined when they release their first books, and issue them on an annual basis to massive acclaim, with huge release parties at all the bookstores that sell them...wait, not that kind of book? Sorry, never mind...
I decided that the solution was to sleep in this morning, then get up and freewrite. Not sure if the former was really a good idea (it's noon, and I feel that my day has already half-slipped away), but the latter seemed to help. Maybe blog about that tonight.
And actually, MW, I had a second project planned out for *years*... until someone jumped on it two years before I could get back to it. ::sigh::

Just remember, even your dissertation was once a shitty first draft. The only way I write anything is to promise myself it will be rewritten.
With all your writing energy, OF COURSE you can write a second! At your rate, I expect it in 2 years or less!

Fortunately, you're wrong!
