What finally made it all seem real
Not the finished MS. Not the positive readers' reports. Not the "yes, we want to publish this" e-mail. Not even the fully signed and executed contract.
No, today, I got the copy-edited version of my MS. And: My book has an ISBN.
I don't want to spoil the party, but I'm still waiting for a volume to come out in which I have an article which was given an ISBN more than two years ago. Now, okay, the editor was ill for a while and then died. This is unlikely to happen to you. Still, I stand by the motto, "Don't believe it till you can hold it in your hands", sorry.

That is so cool; I think for me it would be finding it in a library. Congratulations!
Yay! That's awesome. Does this mean it shows up in WorldCat? Have you checked?
Do you have a library of congress number already?
You should tattoo the ISBN bar code on your ass! That would be fucking awesome at parties and booksignings!
