A Tale of Two Messes

Several months ago, Fellowship Institute colleague and friend A. agreed to read what was then chapter three.  It was a mess, and she spent a lot of time scribbling comments all over it.

This morning I was finally ready to get back to it, so I dove into the pile of mess on the endtable in my living room, certain that that's where it was.

It's not.

I am now staring at another pile of mess, this one on my desk at Fellowship Institute.  I hope like hell the commented chapter is in there.

EDIT: Found it.  Thank god. But I could avoid this if I were just more organized.  That's a standing resolution for me, and one that I have a hard time keeping.

Just this afternoon, I was dreaming up ways to organize my files when I get home so that they're all neat and easy to use: big, wide hanging files for each course or project; individual file jackets for each text or chapter or sub-unit. Fantasies of colors and labels that will make everything make sense. Here, you can buy project boxes--great big colored boxes with clips inside so that all you have to do is pile your papers in and then stand the box on the shelf. If I can find those when I go home, I'll be using them to organize my WHOLE WORLD. Short of actual project boxes, I think that I might be getting some big cardboard boxes and at least putting my piles into designated containers so that they're easier to sort through later.

All of which is my way of saying: I feel your pain.

So, this "organization" of which you speak? Can I buy it at a store? Borrow it from the library? Let me know, because I could use some, too.

I'm glad you found it!

The problem I have when I start to get organized is that I always get interrupted half way through and the next thing I know I can't find something specifically because I tried to organize it!

Actually, The Container Store is the place where you can feel as though you might be able to buy organization. I think that's why the place had such an effect on me the first time I walked in there.
