Why do I still do this to myself?

Stack of papers.

Four-day weekend.

Three days gone.

Not one single paper graded.

You'd think I'd have learned by now.

Why?

Doing everything but grading. There was a plan to do 7 a day, and that was totally doable. Except I didn't. And now I've gotta do them all.

If it is any consolation, you aren't alone. That is pretty much how every round of grading goes for me. And then every time, I say, "Next time, I'll do it differently. I'll grade a few every day for a week or so." And that is never what happens.

You have learned--but what you've learned is that you can still get stuff done.

I'm absolutely with Jenny. That's what I always promise myself, and then that's what I never do. What I do is wait until 24 hours before I need to hand the papers back, and then grade 10-12 in the morning, 10-12 at night, and then 10-12 between 4 and 7 a.m. the following morning.

I don't recommend this schedule, but apparently it's the one that works for me.

How did you get a 4-day weekend? Furloughs? If so, then get over the guilt of NOT marking papers on a furlough day! Fast.

My question is: did you have a good time?
