A Phrase I´m Getting Tired of Hearing

"Those records all got burned up in the civil war/war with X/when the anarchists came through."

At this rate, I´m lucky to be finding as much as I am. But I have only one more day, so it´s winding down, at least for now. More updates (with photos) when I´m back home in July.

Happy Birthday, Notorious, and I hope you got some good archives juju going today. But, the good thing about not finishing your research is that you'll have to return again next summer, right? (Or sooner?)

"Missing in enemy action, 1940" is the British version. Sigh.

Reminds me of the scientific paper (that had been through peer review) I was editing which read, "We are unable to verify our findings because our data were destroyed in the great flood of Houston."

I'm not making this up.

Been there. It makes you want to shriek in silence with frustration -- sometimes not so much on the silence.

Notratched -- I know which flood you are talking about. All of the labs on the ground floors were flooded in the Medical Center. People lost tons of research. Reprecussions still being felt, I see.
